Brief
Redesign a contemporary version of a best selling cooking book.

Solution
This is a reference book and would be used by cooks for a long time. Therefore I chose not to put photos on the cover. The photos often “date” a book.

I used a checked pattern that reminds the old picnic covers and some cooking books from the 50’s and 60’s. This checked pattern is very colourful on the cover (in reference to the colours used for the different chapters) creating a vibrating and tasty atmosphere.

Each chapter is easily recognized by the colours used (titles and all recurrent information’s colours change) Key information’s are highlighted by the use of colours.
